UL Listed TL-15. Heavy plate steel, concrete-amalgam barrier, hardplate over the lock, chrome relockers. Internal jewelry tray and locker configurations. Right for: mid-tier retail jewelers, watch collectors with serious holdings, high-net-worth residential where insurance specifies TL-15.

AMVAULT CF Series — UL TL-30 / TL-30×6

UL Listed TL-30 (door) or TL-30×6 (all six sides). Multiple internal locker configurations, optional internal lighting, optional alarm contact. Right for: full-line jewelry retail, bullion dealers, high-end watch retailers, ultra-HNW residential.

BLR Series — UL TRTL-30×6

Torch and tool resistant, all six sides. Top tier outside of bank vault doors. Right for: bullion dealers, ultra-high-end watch and jewelry retailers, vault operators.

How to Pick the Right One

1. Get your carrier’s spec sheet (Jewelers Mutual, Hanover Jewelers Block, Hartford). Most policies above $50k inventory specify a UL TL rating.
2. Tier the rating to inventory value: TL-15 for $50k-$250k, TL-30 above that, TL-30×6 for very high inventory or all-side coverage requirement, TRTL-30×6 for bullion.
3. Configure internal: jewelry trays (velvet, sized for ring rolls and chain pads), internal lockers (separate combinations for customer property vs store inventory), internal LED lighting on door-open, alarm contact wired to building security panel (often required by carrier).
4. Plan install: retail typically anchors to back-room slab, residential in master closet or vault room. Anchor per UL specs and document for insurance.

Frequently Asked Questions

What’s the difference between a jewelry safe and a regular burglary safe?

Mechanically often the same UL-listed body and door. The “jewelry” version has internal velvet trays, lockers, sometimes interior lighting configured for jewelry storage.

Do I need TL-30×6 or will TL-30 suffice?

Depends on what your insurance specifies. Many jewelers’ carriers require TL-30×6 for inventories over $100,000 because a determined thief will attack a side, top, or back rather than the door once they realize the door is hardened.

How do I keep customer property separate from store inventory?

Internal lockers. Each has its own lock and combination/key. Standard practice: store inventory in main body, customer property and repairs in dedicated internal lockers, owner’s personal property in a separate locker.

Can you alarm-contact the safe?

Yes. Door-position switch wired to your building security panel. Programmable to trigger on after-hours opens or to log every open/close event. Often required by insurance for full-line retail.

What does it cost to deliver and install a TL-rated jewelry safe?

Quoted per job. CE TL-15: 800-1,800 lbs, 2-3 week lead time. CF TL-30: 1,500-3,500 lbs, typically build-to-order at 4-8 weeks. Install is 2-4 hours including alarm contact and internal tray setup.
