Description

AMSEC In-Floor Safes for Discreet, Concrete-Protected Storage

A floor safe is the safe nobody sees. Installed flush into a concrete slab and concealed by carpet, tile or a piece of furniture, an in-floor safe is invisible to a casual burglary and nearly impossible to remove without dedicated demolition tools. Surrounded by concrete, it also has natural fire protection. North Valley Locksmith is an authorized AMSEC dealer and we install in-floor safes across the Phoenix metro for residential, commercial and discreet-storage applications.

What’s Included

  • Your selected AMSEC floor safe (B-rate B1500/B2200/B3500 or C-rate C1714)
  • Free site visit: slab assessment, concrete depth verification, install location selection
  • Concrete coring and excavation to required depth
  • Safe placement, leveling, and concrete pour around body to manufacturer spec
  • Surface flush-fit, ready for carpet, tile or hardwood overlay
  • Combination set, written record stored only by you
  • Walk-through on use, maintenance, and how to keep the install location dry (Arizona slabs handle moisture differently than older concrete in other regions)

Why a Floor Safe (Versus a Wall Safe or Free-Standing)

  • Concealment. A free-standing safe in a closet announces “valuables here.” A floor safe under a rug, a piece of furniture, or a closet floor announces nothing.
  • Theft resistance. A burglar with 60 minutes and a hand truck can roll a 750 lb free-standing safe out the door. A floor safe encased in 1,500 lbs of concrete cannot leave without jackhammers and several hours of demolition.
  • Natural fire protection. Concrete is one of the best fire insulators on the planet. The safe’s body sits inside a concrete sleeve, which adds substantial fire resistance to whatever the safe itself is rated for.
  • Footprint. Zero floor space taken. Important for tight closets, small offices, and homes where a free-standing safe is awkward.

The AMSEC Floor Safe Models We Sell

B1500 — Compact B-Rate Floor Safe

Smallest in-floor model. 1/4″ steel door, B-rate construction. Round access opening, key or combination lock. Holds cash, jewelry, small documents, ammo cans, USB drives.

Right for: Apartments, condos, small homes, owners with a low-volume storage need.

B2200 — Standard B-Rate Floor Safe

The most-installed AMSEC floor safe. Larger interior than B1500, same B-rate construction. Round or rectangular access. Optional dual-lock configuration.

Right for: Most homes and small businesses. The default recommendation if “I want a floor safe” is the entire spec.

B3500 — Large B-Rate Floor Safe

Largest standard B-rate floor safe. Holds binders, document boxes, large jewelry collections, and cash bags. Fits most master closet installs.

Right for: Larger homes, offices with active document storage, and high-cash residential installs.

C1714 — C-Rate High-Security Floor Safe

C-rate construction: 1/2″ steel door, 1″ steel body, hardplate over the lock. Significantly more burglary resistance than B-rate. Used in higher-risk installs.

Right for: Commercial cash storage, jewelers’ inventory off-floor, and high-net-worth residential installs.

How Floor Safe Installation Works

  1. Site visit. We confirm slab thickness (most Phoenix-area slabs are 4″ minimum, but installs require 8-10″ depth), check for post-tension cables (in homes built after 1985, slabs may have steel cables that cannot be cut), verify the location is not over plumbing or HVAC, and pick the spot.
  2. Coring. We core a hole in the slab to the safe’s required dimensions plus an inch on each side for concrete pour. Coring takes 2-4 hours depending on slab condition.
  3. Placement. Safe is dropped into the cored opening, leveled flush with the surrounding slab, and shimmed.
  4. Pour. Concrete is poured around the safe body, encasing it. Cure time 24-48 hours before use.
  5. Surface restoration. Carpet patched, tile re-laid, or hardwood replaced. We handle this or coordinate with your flooring contractor.

Where to Install a Floor Safe

  • Master closet. Most-asked-for location. Discreet and accessible.
  • Garage corner. Easy slab access, easy concealment under storage.
  • Office under a desk. Common in commercial.
  • Pantry corner. Discreet, rarely a place a burglar searches first.
  • NOT under a bed. Counterintuitive but a bed is the first place a burglar looks.
  • NOT in the laundry room. Humidity over time is hard on the lock.

Service After the Sale

Combination changes, lock conversions, lid hinge service, and emergency openings if the combination is lost or the lock fails. See our safe opening service.

Pricing

Floor safe pricing is the safe plus the install. AMSEC B-rate floor safes start around $700. C-rate models start around $1,800. Coring, concrete and finish work add $400-$1,200 depending on slab condition and surface restoration. Request a quote with your install address.

Frequently Asked Questions

Will installing a floor safe damage my slab?

No. Coring removes a small section, the safe is placed, and concrete fills back to the original surface. Done correctly, the slab integrity is restored. We core only after verifying no post-tension cables, no plumbing, and no electrical run beneath.

What if my slab is too thin for an in-floor safe?

If the slab is under 6″ we can’t safely install a B2200 or B3500 (the safe body needs concrete coverage on the bottom). Options: install a B1500 (smaller, requires less depth), or install a free-standing safe instead. We assess on the site visit.

Can I install a floor safe in a second-story apartment or condo?

No. Floor safes require a concrete slab. They cannot install in wood-frame second stories. For upper floors see our wall safes or a free-standing home safe.

How fire-resistant is a floor safe?

The safe body itself usually has a B-rate or C-rate burglary spec but minimal factory fire rating. However, the surrounding concrete adds 1-2 hours of natural fire protection in most installs. The combined system performs comparably to a standalone fire-rated safe for most residential fire scenarios.
