Our Commercial Locksmith Services

A typical residential moving crew will not move your safe. Anything over about 600 lbs is outside their insurance and their equipment. Even safes within their weight class often refuse because of liability. Safe moving is a specialty job. We carry the right gear: power dollies rated to 4,000 lbs, hydraulic stair climbers, J-bars and fulcrum lifts, plate-steel rollers, floor-protection mats, truck-mounted lift gates, and rigging insurance specific to safe moving on every crew.

The kinds of jobs we do:

  • New Safe Delivery: You bought a new AMSEC safe (from us or anywhere). We pick it up at the delivery dock or warehouse, transport, deliver to your install location, anchor it to slab or subfloor, and walk you through use. Most home and gun safe deliveries are 1-2 hours on-site.
  • Existing Safe Relocation: Moving across town, downsizing, relocating an office, business closure, estate cleanout. We uninstall the existing anchor, secure the safe for transport, deliver to the new location, re-anchor, and verify lock function.
  • Inherited or Acquired Safe Pickup: Estate sale buy. Garage-sale find. Aunt left you the safe. We pick it up wherever it currently sits, transport, and install at your home or office.
  • Floor Safe Excavation and Re-Install: Moving an existing in-floor safe to a new property is a special job. The safe is encased in concrete; getting it out requires controlled demolition, then a fresh install at the new slab. We do both ends of this job.
  • Second-Story and Basement Moves: Stairs are not a problem. We assess the staircase before quoting and either confirm the move is doable or recommend an alternative. Hydraulic stair climbers, proper crew size, real experience.
  • Bolt-Down Installation: Anchor work at the destination, included on most jobs. Concrete drilling for floor safes is a separate quote. Anchor specs documented for your insurance file when needed.

Before we arrive: clear a path between origin and the truck, empty the safe of contents (we don’t move loaded safes without a signed acknowledgment), provide truck access within 30 feet of the building if possible, and decide where the safe is going at the destination so we can anchor on arrival. We carry general liability and rigging insurance specific to safe moving. Certificate available on request.

Ready to Move a Safe?

Safe moving is quoted per job. The variables are real: safe weight, stairs, distance, anchor work, and origin and destination conditions. Tell us the safe’s make and model, approximate weight, the origin address and the destination address, and we’ll quote a real number before we show up.

Safe Moving FAQ

The questions we get asked the most. Don’t see yours? Send it our way.

How heavy a safe can you actually move?

We routinely move safes up to 4,000 lbs across the Phoenix metro. Heavier than that we quote case by case (some bank vault doors and TL-30×6 safes exceed our standard equipment). We use power dollies rated to 2,500-4,000 lbs, hydraulic stair climbers, J-bars, plate-steel rollers, floor-protection mats, and truck-mounted lift gates rated to 3,000 lbs.

Can you move a safe to a second-story room?

Usually yes. We assess the staircase first: width, turn radius, head height, and the safe’s weight class. Most second-story residential moves involve safes under 1,500 lbs and a hydraulic stair climber. If the staircase won’t support it, we tell you up front and discuss alternatives.

Can you move a safe out of a basement?

Yes, with the same staircase assessment. Basement safes are common in older Phoenix-area homes and we handle them regularly. Tight basement stairs are not a problem for our crews when the equipment matches the job.

Will a safe move damage my floors or doorways?

Not when done right. We use 4,000-lb-rated floor-protection mats and plate-steel rollers across hardwood, tile, polished concrete, and stone. We measure doorway clearance before the move starts. If a doorway is too narrow we tell you up front and discuss alternatives (different door, removing trim, using a different room).

Will my safe still work after the move?

We verify lock function at pickup and again at delivery. If the safe was working when we picked it up, it’s working when we leave. Older mechanical safes that have been sitting unused for years sometimes need service post-move; we offer that too.

Will you move a safe I bought somewhere else?

Yes. Estate sales, garage sales, online resale, business closures, inherited safes from anywhere in the metro. We pick up wherever the safe currently sits, transport, and install at your address.

Do you move safes out of state?

Yes, by quote. Typical out-of-state moves are within the Mountain West (Utah, New Mexico, Nevada, Colorado). For longer hauls we coordinate with rigging companies in the destination city.

How much does a safe move cost?

Safe moving is quoted per job. The variables are real: safe weight, stairs, distance, anchor work, origin and destination conditions. Tell us the safe’s make and model, approximate weight, the origin address and the destination address, and we’ll quote a real number.

Is your crew insured for safe moving specifically?

Yes. We carry general liability and rigging insurance specific to safe moving. Certificate available on request. Reputable safe movers carry real coverage and document the move; we don’t move safes off the books or under-insured.

Can you anchor the safe at the destination?

Yes. Bolt-down installation is included on most moves: anchor to slab or wood subfloor with the right hardware for the safe’s weight and your floor type. Concrete drilling for in-floor safes is a separate quote because it’s a bigger job.
