Description
AMSEC Gun Safes for Rifles, Pistols and Ammo
If you own firearms in Arizona, you need to store them in a safe. The legal reasons (curious kids, casual visitors, accidental discharge liability) are obvious. The practical reason is also obvious: a $2,500 rifle, a $1,200 optic and a $900 pistol stacked in an unlocked closet is a target. North Valley Locksmith is an authorized AMSEC dealer for the Phoenix metro and we sell, deliver, install and service the full AMSEC gun safe lineup.
What’s Included
- Your selected AMSEC gun safe (NF, BFII Gun, BF or SF series; capacity and finish of your choice)
- Free in-home consultation: gun count, install location, doorway clearance, dehumidifier needs
- Delivery to your home anywhere in the Phoenix metro
- Bolt-down installation to slab or wood subfloor (anchors and hardware included)
- Door organizer, rifle rack and shelving setup per your loadout
- Combination set to your code, written record stored only by you
- Goldenrod or 12V dehumidifier rod recommendation and install (Arizona’s monsoon humidity will rust optics and stocks faster than people expect)
- Manufacturer warranty registration
The Four AMSEC Gun Safe Series We Sell
NF Series — Premium Fire and Burglary Gun Safe
AMSEC’s flagship residential gun safe. UL Residential Security Container (RSC) burglary rating with a 2-hour fire rating tested to 1875°F. The body is heavy-gauge steel with concrete-amalgam fire fill. Solid steel door, chrome-plated relockers, and an internal cabinet that lays out 24 to 31 long guns plus pistol and ammo storage.
Right for: Serious gun owners with a meaningful collection. The NF6032 (24 long-gun) and NF6036 (31 long-gun) are the most-asked-for models.
BFII Gun Series — Fire and Burglary, Sized for Rifles
The BFII home safe in a tall, gun-cabinet configuration. Same UL RSC plus 2-hour fire rating as the BFII home safe, but with a deeper interior to fit standard 48″ rifles upright with optics on. Heavy bolt work, pry-resistant door, internal organizer.
Right for: Mid-collection gun owners who also want one safe to protect documents, jewelry and cash alongside firearms.
BF Series — Fire and Burglary Gun Safe (Mid-Tier)
One step below the NF on plate steel thickness, same fire rating, lower price point. UL RSC. Holds 18 to 24 long guns plus pistol and ammo storage.
Right for: First-time gun safe buyers and gun owners with under 20 firearms who want fire protection without the NF price.
SF Series — Standard Fire Long-Gun Safe
Entry-level AMSEC gun safe. UL RSC burglary rating, 60-minute fire rating. Single-color exterior, simpler bolt work. Capacity 12 to 30 long guns depending on model.
Right for: Budget-conscious gun owners who need a real safe (not a “gun cabinet” sheet metal box from a big-box store).
How to Pick the Right Gun Safe
- Count your guns. Then add 50%. Long-gun capacity claims are best-case (rifles with no optics, no slings, narrow stocks). Real-world capacity is 60-70% of advertised. If you own 12 rifles today, buy a 24-gun safe.
- Decide on fire rating. If your guns are insured at replacement value and you can absorb the loss in a fire, an SF is fine. If your collection includes irreplaceable items (a grandfather’s M1, a custom build, an early-production rifle), buy fire protection. NF or BFII Gun.
- Decide on lock type. Mechanical dial: slow, no batteries ever, lasts decades. Electronic keypad: fast, multi-user codes, needs a 9V battery once a year. Biometric: fastest under stress, most expensive, most points of failure.
- Plan the install location. Climate-controlled garage with a slab is ideal. Master closet works. Avoid kitchens (humidity), unconditioned attics (heat), and exterior garage walls (heat soak in Arizona summer).
Arizona-Specific: Humidity and Heat
Phoenix gun owners need to think about two things most online gun safe articles ignore: monsoon humidity and summer heat soak. Recommendations:
- Run a Goldenrod or 12V dehumidifier rod inside the safe. Cheap, electric, prevents rust on barrels and optics.
- Install on the interior of the home, not in an unconditioned garage. A 130°F garage in July is hard on lubricants and stock finishes.
- If a garage install is the only option, use the cooler interior wall and add a desiccant pack along with the dehumidifier rod.
Delivery and Installation
NF, BFII Gun, BF and SF safes deliver within 7 to 14 business days of order. We schedule a 2-hour install window, bring the safe in on a power dolly, anchor it to slab or subfloor, install the dehumidifier rod, set the combination, and walk you through use. Second-story installs are not a problem.
Service After the Sale
If the electronic lock battery dies, if you forget the combination, if the bolt work jams, if a hinge sags, we are 20 minutes away. Locked out of a gun safe? See our safe opening service.
Pricing
AMSEC gun safe pricing depends on series, capacity, lock type and color. Request a quote with your gun count and install address and we’ll get you a real number same-day.
Frequently Asked Questions
Are AMSEC gun safes RSC or TL-rated?
AMSEC residential gun safes (NF, BFII Gun, BF, SF) carry the UL Residential Security Container (RSC) rating. AMSEC also makes TL-15 and TL-30 rated safes, but those are commercial burglary safes that can be configured with rifle racks. If you need a TL-rated safe for your collection (insurance requirement, very high-value collection), see our burglary safes page.
Will the safe keep guns from rusting?
Only with a dehumidifier inside. The safe alone is a sealed steel box and will trap whatever moisture is already in the air. We install a Goldenrod or 12V rod with every gun safe at no extra cost.
Can I move my existing gun safe to a new home?
Yes. We move gun safes weighing from 300 lbs to over 1,500 lbs across the Phoenix metro and to most of Arizona. See our safe moving service.
How heavy is a 24-gun NF safe?
The AMSEC NF6032 weighs about 925 lbs. A 31-gun NF6036 weighs about 1,025 lbs. We have the equipment to install either on a second floor.
